With hidden knot, ladder, sawtooth or maybe lattice style? :) Either way, you may use a free photo (like morguefile.com archive) with your preferred shoes and laces and import it in your paper, as layer. Use the pen tool and make a path, following the shapes, on a new layer, kept above the image.
About using pen tool and paths here (5 pages): http://www.photoshopessentials.com/basics/pen-tool-selections/
For fills, I suggest to use soft brushes and linear gradients in light colors (each segment of the lace must be abridged separately, otherwise the effect will be dull). Or simply apply a layer style such as Shadow, Bevel and emboss. Excellent luck!
